TMX Grand Prix Great Britain Round 8 FIM Trial World Championship 2007
Co – Directors of L+M Events, Martin Lampkin and Jake Miller are proud to announce ‘the third and final home coming' of World trials at Hawkstone Park. Following on from the last two highly acclaimed editions of the event held during the summer of 2005 and 2006, the 2007 Grand Prix Great Britain will once again return to the famous Shropshire venue on its now established date in late July. Having been extremely delighted with their previous association with this event, T+MX (Trials + Motocross News) will continue their title sponsorship of this blue ribbon competition, with support from its sister publication DBR (Dirt Bike Rider).
The weekend of 28/29 July 2007 will see L+M Events fulfil their three-year agreement with the FIM. Both Lampkin and Miller have stated, that having reached the end of their current contract with the World governing body, that they have no intention of running another World championship outdoor trial until at least 2010. This has been confirmed with the recently released 2008 official sporting calendar revealing that there will be no World round on the UK mainland next season.
Having been responsible for bringing World trials back to the UK after a long absence back in 2005, L+M Events are now totally focussed on delivering a final chapter in this current run that will leave great memories etched in the minds of the British fans. The 2007 edition could just prove to be one of the most important events in the modern era of the sport, as perhaps trials' biggest legend prepares to say farewell.
With the undisputed King of trials, Dougie Lampkin having not yet confirmed his intentions beyond the end of this season, and with there definitely being no UK World round in 2008 and not a real prospect in 2009, this could potentially be the multi World champion's last ever home Grand Prix. Although Dougie failed to repeat his famous 2005 victory last Summer, no one will forget those emotional and dramatic scenes at a sun drenched Hawkstone Park two years ago, when the highly popular Yorkshireman confirmed that trials had certainly come home.
Never a company to rest on its previous successes, L+M Events has been busy planning a finale suitable for a King, and just how apt that might prove to be. Whilst maintaining the key elements, which have seen over sixteen thousand off road fans enjoy their last two editions, Lampkin and Miller have been working hard to ensure that 2007 is distinctly different for the public and the riders alike.
The same two-day format will remain, with the trial itself taking place throughout Sunday. Saturday's programme will be packed with autograph sessions with the top riders, official practice and an extended version of the Mini Masters trial, which was received so well on its introduction last year. Adding extra weight to Saturday and new for 2007 will be public test sessions, with all the manufacturers pledging their support to supply bikes and personnel so visitors can actually ride the latest models – more details regarding this unique opportunity will be released over the coming months.
L+M Events will again benefit from the kind and expert assistance provided by Bradford + District Motor Club team headed up by Ron Eddings, as they take charge of the huge cast of observers, officials and technical staff, without whom the trial simply could not run.
