Motocross

GORDON CROCKARD will headline the Belfast Supercross on November 29/30 at the city's Odyssey Arena - although, at the time of going to press, it's unclear whether he'll race a factory KTM or be making his return to CAS Honda.

The event will be the second SX at the impressive venue in as many years - in '01 it was sold out over two nights as part of the now sadly defunct UK Supercross series.

Joining the Crock Star on the startline in Belfast will be top riders including Rob Herring, UK SX 250cc champ Mark Hucklebridge, double Irish champion Adam Lyons, Yamaha UK threesome Jason Higgs, Billy MacKenzie and Justin Morris plus CAS Honda's Neil Prince.

And new Emberson Yamaha signing Jeff Dement will be making his British debut at Belfast. The US ace plans to ride a 250F in the 125 class before switching to a 450F for the 250cc races. No slouch at supercross, Dement could provide a few shocks as his preparations continue for next year's world 125cc championship.

Freestyle will also play a big part in the weekend with the Red Bull FMX team of Chris Brock, Gary Taylor, Sean Vukovic and Frazer Swanson signed up along with 15-year-old Irish sensation Oliver Hegarty.

"Belfast was awesome last year," reckons Brock - who recently placed third in the Sony Walkman IFMXF World Cup in Germany. "I've been jumping all over Europe during the summer but nowhere's been better than the atmosphere at the Odyssey 12 months ago."
