James Dunn has been signed up by Bob Buchanan to fill in for Lewis Gregory on the GL12 KTM team for the remainder of the season.

With Lewis still suffering the effects of a crash at the HIMX in February, James – joint leader of last year's Maxxis MX2 championship after two rounds – will contest the ACU British Two-Stroke Championship and selected rounds of the EMX300 series.

"Lewis is out with this injury from Hawkstone and we don't know how long it's going to be,” said Bob.

"We've obviously got commitments to sponsors and there's a bike sitting there that needs racing.

"Jim's had a rough time lately and riding the two-stroke I think will put a smile back on his face so I asked him and he said ‘yes please'!”

Dunny suffered a serious concussion in 2016 and sat out most of the year. He joined the JK Racing team for 2017 but left before the start of the season.

"Ade Phelpstead has left JK Racing with his rider so he's going to spanner for us. He'll be out on the bike next week while I'm away in Latvia and they'll get ready to do the second round of the British Two-stroke Championship at Hawkstone and then on to Teutschenthal for the first EMX300.

"I spoke to him when he was flying out to Vegas for a stag do. I can do a lot of things but turning a 747 round in mid-flight isn't one of them so we missed Canada Heights!

"There will be no pressure on him and it's a great way to ease him back into racing and obviously the last time we saw Jim Dunn race a two-stroke in a European championship he beat Tim Gajser.”
