Round two saw James Dabill's assault on the 2006 British trials championship take a major set back when he could only manage a lowly fourth place today. This had the effect of totally offsetting his stunning showing at the opening round back in March. Having suffered a last day nightmare at the recent Scottish six day trial, James arrived in South Wales looking to make amends for his late error last weekend.

However the revenge Dabill was looking for never materialised as he suffered three mediocre laps, losing fifteen marks on each tour of the twelve dry sections. James actually held joint second place at the end of the opening lap, behind early leader Morris and level with Colley.

Dabill was to gradually slip down the leader board as the day progressed. By the end of lap two James was in joint third with Colley, Jarvis having now taken charge after a poor opening lap, and Morris having slotted into second position at this point.

The twenty year old from Leeds in West Yorkshire was further demoted as veteran campaigner Colley pulled of a remarkable last lap to leave Dabill in a disappointing fourth place come the finish. This result also drops James to third in the overall standings after two rounds, ten points behind championship leader Jarvis and two points adrift of Colley.

Dabill will have little time to dwell on today's events, as he prepares to fly to the USA on Tuesday, ready for next weekend's World championship trial, which will hopefully bring a return of form for the young Beta rider.

"The result is perhaps worse than I thought I had ridden. I knew I wasn't riding at my best, but I thought second place today was still a possibility and third was the absolute least I would have settled for. Fourth is a bit of a disaster, and is the result of dropping five marks too many on each lap, as that has been the difference today between a good result and a bad one. Let's hope that the trip to the States brings better things as I am ready for another good ride.”
