John Collins officially took over from Brian Higgins as ACU chairman on January 1.

The 69-year-old, from Port Talbot in South Wales, is a retired technology teacher. He will hold the position for the next two years.

Collins, who also runs a competition motorcycle shop with wife Audrey, started riding trials in the early '70s and dabbled with motocross before moving into enduros where he contested the British championship for over 20 years.

Among his achievements are three British Clubman four-stroke titles and four Welsh four-stroke championships.

He's also represented his centre in trials and enduros and is still an active trials rider.

A member of the Neath club for over 40 years, Collins has managed winning men's and women's Trial des Nations teams and is scheduled to be clerk of the course for the 2017 GB round of the EWC at Hawkstone Park.
