Husqvarna Motorcycles is pleased to announce the signing of 25-year-old Spaniard Mario Roman, who will join the Bel-Ray Husqvarna Factory Racing team to compete in both the upcoming FIM SuperEnduro World Championship and all major Extreme Enduro events in 2016.

Competing in his first full season of Extreme Enduro competition this year, despite undergoing knee surgery Mario placed second at Hell's Gate in Italy as well as being one of just five finishers at the ErzbergRodeo. Prior to his full-time switch to Extreme Enduro competition Mario spent several years competing in the EWC. In 2010 he was crowned 125cc Youth World Cup champion, before finishing fourth in the 2013 Enduro Junior World Championship.

Starting his off-road motorcycle career in trials, Mario competed in both the Madrid and Spanish trials championships as a youngster.

Developing many of the skills needed to excel in modern day Extreme Enduro racing, the Madrid native will put those skills to good use for Husqvarna, starting with the opening round of the FIM SuperEnduro World Championship in Lodz, Poland on December 5.

Mario Roman:  "I am so pleased that I will be racing as a Husqvarna factory rider in 2016. It is an incredible opportunity for me, and one that I am very excited about. Working with such a strong team, with great bikes, means I will have the support to push for the podium in all races. After several years competing in the Enduro World Championship I am now fully focused on Extreme Enduro races and the SuperEnduro, which starts at the beginning of December.”

Robert Jonas – Vice President Husqvarna Motorsport:  "Mario is a hugely talented and hard working rider who we feel is a perfect fit for the Bel-Ray Husqvarna Factory Racing team. As the only privateer racer to finish on the podium at Erzberg this year Mario has shown what he is capable of. With Husqvarna's full support we believe he can achieve much more and look forward to Mario joining the team.'
