Motocross

This weekend the eighth and final round of the Maxxis ACU British Motocross series will take place at Little Silver.

The natural hillside circuit is sure to produce some great racing in all four classes – MX1 MX2 Veteran and MXY85 – and to add to the excitement all classes have yet to be decided.

Going into the final round, the MX2 battle is set to continue with only 16 points separating current leader Mel Pocock and Elliott Banks-Browne.

Both riders have been in fine form, exchanging race wins all season long.

Pocock recently clinched the European EMX250 title and will be looking to add the Maxxis title to his CV.

The Little Silver event also features another combined class race at the end of proceedings, where the 2012 MX2 title will, most likely, be decided.

Currently in third place in the series is Neville Bradshaw, ahead of Steven Lenoir and Bryan Mackenzie.

In MX1, Kevin Strijbos leads the series by 58-points over Shaun Simpson.

The Belgian could seal his first national title with a strong result in the opening moto.

Simpson will be hoping to repeat his performance from last year where he took overall victory at the same venue.

Third is currently held by Gert Krestinov ahead of the injured Matiss Karro. Martin Barr and Jamie Law will also be looking to move into the top five of the final standings and overhaul Karro.

The event will also mark the return of reigning British MX1 champ, Brad Anderson on the Carlton Dry Honda.

Anderson has recently signed a deal to race for the Maxxis Kawasaki LPE team in 2013 and will be keen to prove that he is still a strong title contender.

Nico Aubin also moves into the MX1 class with the MX2 title now out of reach.

He is looking to build for the 2013 season in MX1.

This racing will also feature the final round of the Veteran series.

Leader is Phil Mercer ahead of Terry House, Gary Hoptrough and Greg Hanson.

All four riders are separated by just 12 points and with two races left anything could happen.

The event also includes the final round of the MXY85 series, which has produced some superb racing in the previous two rounds.

Will Keogh leads on 81 points, with Josh Gilbert, Todd Kellett and Gradie Featherstone all tied on 75 points.

Jordan Eccles in fifth place is a further seven adrift.

Little Silver offers excellent viewing and is easily reached from the end of the M5 motorway. Action starts with the MX2 Qualifying session at 8.45am with the first championship race at 12.15pm.
