MOTOCROSS STARS, extreme sports athletes, journos and media whores all converge on Rockingham Motor Speedway for Oakley's annual motocross day. The get-together has brought Boyzone's Shane Lynch, superstar DJ Brandon Block, Albion KTM's Stephen Sword and downhill mountainbike racers Steve Peat, Will Longden, Greg Minnaar, Scott 'boom-boom' Beaumont and a whole host of others to the Jon Pettit/Rob Warner designed track. As well as accomplished riders, the event also caters for first time wobblers kitted out in brand-new Fox kit and they take to the track on XR400s supplied by the CAS Honda experience. Everyone seems to have huge ear-to-ear grins and no-one gets hurt even though there's a few minor spills and one near miss - course designer Warner avoids splattering a fallen-rider by inches - on the technical, jump-filled course. It's the big, safe jumps that allow Swordy and Pettit to put on a masterclass in whipping as they throw their KTM thumpers sideways. World downhill mountainbike champ Minnaar is also throwing his KTM around with fine style and ex-GP MXer turned World Cup MTBer Lewis King still looks pretty fast on his motocross bike.All-in-all everyone regardless of speed or style has a great day and I can't wait for the next one. Big thanks to everyone at Oakley, Fox and Si and James at TBM for the loan of the bike.
