While his team-mate Brad Anderson was doing the business in Spain in the EMX300 series on a GL12 Yamaha, Verde Sports KTM rider Jake Millward was busy sticking his 250F on the box at round three of the Michelin MX Nationals at Duns.

After struggling in qualifying he didn't get a great gate pick which contributed to a terrible start in race one that put him dead last. Some quick passes on the opening lap moved him up to 12th and fifth MX2 rider and he kept going forward, inheriting second in class when Bryan MacKenzie picked up a puncture.

The Sheffield rider backed this up with second in race two for second overall which moves him from seventh to third in the championship.

"I came into the weekend not really knowing what to expect with the track being hardpack and hardpack not being one of my strongest points but the weekend went perfect,” said Millward. "Both my speed and results were good and I came away with two second place finishes. Hopefully there will be a lot more weekends like this one to come.”

Team Manager Adrian Kirk was delighted with his rider's performance.

"Excellent day's racing from Jake today,” he said. "It once again shows what he is capable of. He is starting to believe in his capability and hence the results are starting to show. A solid day's racing with excellent results.”
