Shaun Simpson had his KTM bike stolen last night, just hours ahead of racing today at Hawkstone Park round two of the MX Nationals.

He arrived at Hawkstone last night and at some point between 23:00 and 07:30 this morning his spare race bike was stolen out of the trailer.

Simpson has posted a message on social media asking for help locating the bike, which has a few distinct features.

The 33-year-old Scot had just travelled from Foxhill where he had been competing in the Revo ACU British Motocross Championship, which he elected to race instead of competing in Hawkstone's Saturday programme. The SS24 rider won the second moto at Foxhill to finish fifth overall.

The theft has left the motocross community outraged that a bike could be stolen from under the nose of everyone at a championship event. "Unbelievable that this can happen at an organised event.. make this bike too hot to handle and lets hope Shaun's bike turns up soon," said one comment on the Facebook post.

Another said: "Shocking its happened at Hawkstone again!"

Simpson is currently sitting in second place in the MX Nationals MX1 championship standings.
