The MXGP of Argentina has been postponed due to the coronavirus outbreak, the FIM has confirmed.

The MXGP stop in Argentina was due to be the third round of the 2020 FIM Motocross World Championship on March the 21-22 but a decision by the Argentinian Minister of Health to postpone any international events has meant the round could no longer go ahead.

Infront Moto Racing says the MXGP of Patagonia in Argentina will be held at a later date in the year.

In a press release the FIM and Infront Moto Racing said: "The FIM and Infront Moto Racing, along with the national organizers are working very close to preserve the health of all those involved in the FIM Motocross World Championship as well as the Championship programme as much as they can; the aim is to find a feasible date that will see the MXGP calendar extend in 2020. More information on an exact date will be announced very soon.

"The International situation has been monitored on a daily basis by the Promoter of the FIM Motocross World Championship and the FIM.

The Trentino (Italy) round of the MXGP series has already been moved from its April 5 slot to July 19. And with a 20-round season, spare weekends are in short supply.

Adam Wheeler has suggested on Twitter that the new date will be November 21-22. It's likely we'll see more news about off-road events being impacted by the coronavirus in the coming days and weeks.
