Red run!

Motocross

Clean sweeps were the order of the day as Brad Anderson and Elliott Banks-Browne continued their winning ways in front of a packed out Landrake Moto Parc.

The 5,500 motocross fans were kept on the edge of their seats over the course of the weekend as the motocross stars of tomorrow battled it out in the four Red Bull Elite Youth Cup classes, with the racing of a truly exceptional standard.

Not to be outdone, both Red Bull Pro National class races were motocross at its absolute best with reigning MX1 champion PAR Honda's Brad Anderson taking a pair of hard earned victories and 2010's MX2 vice champion Pulse Racing DB Honda's Elliott Banks-Browne stamping his authority with two race wins in the MX2 class.

Is there anyone who can stop Brad Anderson on his PAR Homes Honda winning in the MX1 class? Maybe not, but the competition is getting hotter at the top end of the Red Bull Pro Nationals.

After the MX2 riders had taken all the best positions on the start line, the MX1 riders slotted into what were left with Kristian Whatley on his Samsung Yamaha just left of centre and Anderson far right and with what looked like no clear straight line to the first corner.

However, Anderson being Anderson, that fact wasn't going to stop him.

The gate fell, with Whatley getting the holeshot ahead Stephen Sword, and the flying Elliot Banks-Browne third with Anderson somehow fourth.

Arm-pump seems to bother most riders and early leader Whatley slipped back, to third, and Sword did likewise a little later.
No-one could get even close to Banks-Browne in the MX2 class as Mel Pocock was second, 14-seconds behind with Neville Bradshaw a distant third in class.

Anderson took the lead and eventually win in race one as Shaun Simpson made life hard for himself as he worked through from an initial 14th, to second.

Alex Snow got the holeshot in race two with, once again, Banks-Browne the first MX2 rider.

Sword and Anderson swapped the lead for a while as Whatley dropped his bike, with once again Simpson had to works his way through from an average start to a top three finish.

Pocock was again second MX2 rider home with Ray Rowson third.

After race one, MX1 winner Anderson said: "I thought I was going to get boxed in as I started from the right, but managed to pass lots of riders down the first hill in the deep ruts. I managed to get passed ‘Swordy' and Whatley.”

After the outing, he added: "I didn't get the best of starts but managed to pass Simpson, Swordy and Whatley for the lead. I made some mistakes which allowed Swordy to get back past. I regrouped and found my rhythm again, kept it neat and tidy for the win, which keeps my win streak alive!”

MX2 overall winner and series leader, Banks-Browne explained: "It's good, I couldn't have done any better, two good starts even against the big bike's and two wins. I retain the red leaders number plate – that can't be bad.”

The Fuchs Silkolene 125cc Two-stroke class was a no holds barred contest between Pro Tech Yamaha's Luke Remmer and Yamaha-mounted John Pettitt as the pair seemed to find one another in the latter stages of each of their race outings.

Remmer took the first win, Pettitt the second and they crossed the finish line side-by-side in a thrilling final encounter race to the weekend that could have gone either way.

Jim Davies led race one till a charging Remmer passed him with three laps to go, while Pettitt did things the hard way as he came from sixth at the start to snatch third from Ben Howell on the very last lap.

Early leader Remmer made a mistake in race two, which opened the door to let Pettitt through for the win. However Remmer fought back to second as the race came to a conclusion.

In the final moto, Remmer was in the lead at the end of the first lap, but Pettitt – from 13th on lap one, just kept coming and coming, and crossed the finish line almost beside a tiring Remmer.

Remmer took the overall but with Pettitt claiming second on the day, he holds onto the Red series-leader plate. Howell was third overall and moves up to fourth in the standings.
