SUZUKI'S HOTLY-awaited 250cc four-stroke - codenamed the XRMO - made its world debut at the opening round of the All Japan MX champs in the hands of test pilot Yohei Kojima. As debuts go it was hardly the stuff of legends. Taking over the ride at short notice after test rider Yoshihide Fukudome sidelined himself in a practice crash, Kojima spent much of his heat race on the deck and failed to qualify for the championship races. But it wasn't all doom and gloom for the new machine. The Suzuki has been developed in conjunction with Kawasaki and the green machine - identical apart from Kayaba suspension instead of Showa and, obviously, colour - went 1-1 in the hands of Tetsuya Mizoguchi.Suzuki and Kawasaki fans who want to get their paws on the quarter-litre four-bangers will have to be patient - production versions of both machines will not be introduced until '04.
