Victory for Eddy at the double...

Always a challenging event due to its whooped out sandy tracks, this year's competition proved to be even harder than usual as torrential rain during the second day's competition brought the Motul British Enduro Championship to a decidedly wet conclusion.

For the first time this season, a rider other than Manxman David Knight topped the Championship class results at a round of the BEC. Honda's Paul Edmondson made the most of the reigning champion's absence at the REME-organised Natterjack Enduro and secured a double win.

With Knighter crowned overall British Enduro Champion at the penultimate round of the series, Edmondson ended his season on a high note at the sandy, southern event, claiming victory on both days. He topped day one by five-seconds and day two by slightly more, despite a thunder storm bringing a premature end to the proceedings.

Edmondson was certainly made to work for his results as TM-mounted Australian, Jake Stapleton, pushed the former world champion hard on both days. Beating Edmondson on all of the event's tight and twisty enduro tests on day one, it was Paul's advantage on the motocross test which proved decisive as he was able to open up a small advantage, which ultimately earned him the win.

"Things were certainly close between myself and Jake all day," admitted Paul. "He was a little faster on the Enduro test but I seemed to be better on the MX test. The day went well for me. The motocross test was great fun – it's one of the few tests in the BEC that you can really attack."
