VIDEO: Mugen E.Rex E-bike - 2021 version in action

In our minds, the name Mugen, which sparked into life in 1973, will be forever associated with super-trick 80s Honda-based motocross machines. However, the company is still alive and well and is now at the cutting edge of electric motorsports.
Mugens Shinden model has won multiple Isle of Man TT Zero Challenge titles, and their industry-leading technology has been channelled into the companys Mugen E.Rex motocross machine.
The e-bike was at Sugo at the weekend, and although looking quick-ish at times, it did appear to suffer an issue at one point.
Visually, the Mugen E.Rex has a very different look to the first two E.Rex machines (think Mad Max). Interestingly, this version of the E.Rex looks to have more in common with the previously unveiled Honda CR Electric prototype.
We'd love to see world champion Tim Gajser or German ace Ken Roczen go full tilt on the Mugen E.Rex. That'd be something.

Founded by Hirotoshi Honda, son of Honda Motor Company founder Soichiro Honda, Mugen is not owned by Honda never has been. There is that close family connection, of course, but it's not an inter-linked corporate one. Mugen is, however, a partner of the Honda Motor Company.
