Dougie Lampkin and the team celebrate his 14th SSDT victory

News Trials Scottish Six Days Trial Dougie Lampkin

Dougie Lampkin was in top form as he resisted pressure from the chasing pack to take his 14th SSDT victory

A strong performance through the 2023 Scottish Six Days Trial saw Dougie Lampkin lift the famous SSDT winner’s trophy for a record extending 14th time! The 47-year-old Vertigo rider took the lead on day one and held it throughout the trial although an admin error on Thursday made it look like he’d relinquished the lead to Jack Peace and Billy Green. However, while that mistake was rectified, a difficult fifth day saw Doug drop two marks while Green stayed clean to actually square things up at the top of the leaderboard with just one day remaining.

But when it mattered most, Lampkin soaked up the pressure and remained faultless through Saturday’s closing 30 sections and eventually won with a two-point margin. Green had to eventually settle for second position as he dropped two marks on Saturday. Last year's runner-up Michael Brown stayed clean on day six and snatched third place ahead of Jack Peace and Tom Minta who rounded out this year’s top five.

The full SSDT report will run in a future issue of TMX.
