BVM Put To The Test

While many of the importers run their own test days the opportunity to ride Beta, Gas Gas, Scorpa, Sherco or TRS one after the other is too good an opportunity to miss.

To jump off one bike and then be able to compare against another provides the ultimate potential customer comparison.

This was what was on offer at the recent BVM test day at Breakheart Quarry not far from Dursley in deepest Gloucestershire.

This used to be an annual event but due to the recent BVM reorganisation it has not taken place since December 2013.

It is now back and, despite early sub-zero temperatures, the turnout was pretty good and with some brilliant sunshine flooding the quarry by mid- morning there was ample opportunity to stand and discuss the bikes between the 15-minute riding sessions.

Not only that but with Steve Saunders, John's Shirt and Lampkin and Nigel Birkett all on hand you could go home with information over load.

Rob Maller a local Enduro rider who has competed in many two wheeled disciplines was there to represent Sherco.

Although this was a modern bike test day there was none other than Sammy Miller in attendance enjoying meeting the riders.

Activities during the lunch break were taken care of by some demo rides by Toby Martyn at the far side of the Quarry.

Some big rock steps reminded people what is needed by British Championship contenders these days and he even had an offer to buy his bike as it obviously goes up places mere mortals cannot contemplate.

Thanks to BVM and especially Lawrence Luff who was the main man on the day.

Commiserations to Craig Talbot who came up from the Isle of Wight to mind the shop while others were out having a play.

It was good to see the event back in the calendar.
