Trials

This weekend, Friday - Sunday, July 19 - 21, sees the biggest trial in the UK outside the The Scottish Six Days take place when the Richmond MC stage their epic Reeth Three Day Trial in the fabulous Yorkshire Dales.

With no fewer than 250 riders, three completely separate daily courses and close to 100 section over the three days this is a mighty undertaking by the Richmond faithful who never shirk any task.

Last years trial had to be cancelled due to the risk of fire on the moors after a prolonged hot dry weather so it is fantastic to see the event on again.

All three days will start from The Woodyard, Reeth, with Fridays route in the hands of Bruce Storr comprising 30 miles and 30 sections in Swaledale to ease riders into things.

Nathan Stones then takes over for Saturday and will take the route into Arkengarthdale with around 40 miles and 35 sections before Andrew Brown winds it down with his own route in Swaledale and a final 30 subs.

There are three options for entrants, Hard course, Clubman and a 50/50 Green option.

Looking for overall victory will be the likes of Richard Sadler, Guy Kendrew, Tom Minta, Luke Walker, local Jonathan Richardson, Ross Danby, recent Dave Rowland National winner Richard Timperley, Jack Sheppard, the latter all the way from Ipswich and the Isle of Wights Chris Stay.

There will be a host of others fancying their chances though and as for picking a winner in the Clubman and Green courses - good luck with that - all are packed with talent!

Roddy Baker has drawn #1 and will be first away at 10am on Friday. With a revolving start order to ensure a level playing field Gary Collinson (96) leads away on Saturday at 9am with Mark Buckworth (163) heading the field on Sunday, also at 9am.
