Trials

The ACU S3 Parts National Trials Champs is proving incredibly popular, with four successful rounds already down which are the Wallace Cup, Milnethorpe Cup, Colmore Cup and the Jack Wood.

And the fifth round of the series, the Llangollen clubs long-running Lomax National to be run as usual on Easter Monday (April 22) is already a sell-out, the available spaces being filled in record time!

If any riders have entered who have to withdraw for whatever reason they are asked to contact the secretary, Liz, on 01691-77410 as soon as possible, in order for the space to be taken by a rider on the reserve list. Next up, less than a week later is round six, the Yeadon Guiseley clubs Chris Carter Trial on Sunday, April 28.

The clubs own Dob Park is the venue near Otley in deepest Yorkshire with its usual mix of trees and rocks and slippery gullies. There are150 places up for grabs and you can download all you need from the club website. NO telephone entries will be accepted!

There is then a break of a couple of months to the penultimate S3 Parts round, the Wetherby clubs Wainwright Shield in sunny June and then a three-month hiatus before the Newcastle clubs Travers Trophy, in and around Weardale, in September.

In the Championship Dan Thorpe currently holds a narrow lead over Guy Kendrew in a Gas Gas double-act. Guy has had two wins but ever-present Dan has been relentlessly consistent as ever. TRS-mounted Isle of Wight long-distance traveller Chris Stay is right in the mix just three points behind Guy.

In the Over 40s north Wales Montesa ace Phil Houghton has raced into a healthy lead of 15 points from Hillsborough clubman Darren Wasley (Gas Gas). Richmond brothers Richard and Tom Fraser have blocked-out the Clubman with Richard storming into a mighty 23-point lead despite not yet having notched up a maximum score. And Katy Sunter Thorpe makes it a Yorkshire 1-2-3 just three points off second place!

Championship points after four rounds
