Trials Torque: Double the fun at Scarborough

Trials

FOLLOWING two opening rounds in the Lake District last month and the third round in Wales last Sunday, Scarborough DMC are now building up towards their top class weekend double bill.

It comprises the fourth round of the RT Keedwell British Trials Championship on Saturday, June 4, followed by a Super Trial on Sunday, June 5 – the latter event for invited riders only.

Both events are to be held at the club's own Low North Park, Harwood Dale venue and former Championship rider Ben Hemingway has been roped-in, to lend a hand in the course building.

Along with a hired mechanical digger he intends to construct some fantastic new sections from a massive influx of stone; 16 loads we understand, which will hopefully test the best trials riders in the country.

Scarborough's Peter Race, who was at the Scottish Six Days following the action, tells us that entries are coming along nicely.

And Peter informs us that to be sure of a ride, all potential competitors should make sure of getting their entries in early.

Championship riders have to be registered of course but all Expert course riders are welcome to enter.

With class leaders James Dabill, Dan Thorpe and Jack Peace unbeaten after three rounds, will Scarborough throw up a new winner?

Michael Brown will certainly be hoping that will be the case as the local ace looks to stop reigning British Champ James Dabill before the Vertigo factory ace assembles an unbeatable championship points tally.

There is ample hard standing for parking, camping, caravans, motorhomes etc., and facilities at this venue include an on site cafe operated by club members.

Start time both days will be 9 30am.

For more information please log on to the club website or ring 01723-863987. Entry forms are available on the ACU website.
