Trials Torque: Experts ready for a Classic

Trials

A cracking new Classic trial will take place this year on Sunday, August 13, when the Northern Classic Experts Trial will take place at Newcastleton in the English - Scottish borders under the flag of Cumberland County MCC.

The club, with Paul Norman the driving force, has already run several mega successful KIA Twinshock Championship rounds at the venue and while the KIA organisers are giving the event a rest in 2017, keeping the series fresh by bringing in new rounds, Paul is keen to keep the event going on an annual basis and so has come up with the new title.

The excellent Newcastleton venue was brought back to use after around 25 years by Paul with help from local borders enthusiasts like Graham Smith and Grant Miller.

Classes are exactly the same as the KIA so that's Expert and Clubman routes for Spanish and Pre-78 Twinshock, Open Twinshock, Britshock and Air-cooled mono classes.

If you have anything resembling these classes Paul will get you in somewhere!

Gary Bingley is getting local car dealership Lloyds involved and there will be an impressive Lloyds BMW trophy for the Expert Premier and a Lloyds Mini trophy for the top Clubman, each to be retained by the winners for one year - just like in the old days!

It will be pre-entry only - no entries on the day - so get cracking and contact Roger Kenyon at rogerkenyon@yahoo.co.uk

There will also be a Charity Trial on the Saturday afternoon (August 12) with a 2.30pm kick-off time.

Everyone welcome, all riders on all bikes and this event is just enter on the day.

There is no camping at the venue BUT there's camping in Newcastleton village and live music at The Grapes public house.

All's set for a great weekend of social fun and a super trial.
