Trials

NIKITA Smith continues to make remarkable progress on her long road to full recovery from a serious accident back in June 2014.

The girl from Fryup on the north Yorks moors is aiming to compete in the Women's Trial2 class of the Trial World Championship following a return to British Championship action this year.

She will be picking up a brand-new 2017 250 Gas Gas this week with sponsorship from GGUK and Cloburn Trials.

That she will achieve her ambitions is beyond doubt.

Before the accident Nikita was heading up the British Ladies and Girls trials rankings and was seen by many as a future British Champion.

The trials activities were not the only achievements for Nikita as she had qualified as a karate black belt in February 2014 and followed that up with a solo skydive on May 17 when she raised £1,600 for the Cystic Fibrosis Charity.

Since the accident, operations, intense physiotherapy and sheer dogged determination saw Nikita back on two wheels in a Guisborough trial at Commondale on July 23 last year.

She still wears a knee brace to aid her left leg while at the gym, cycling and skiing to build up her strength and stamina.

All the best to Nikita as she gets her trials career back on track.
