Trials Torque: Raga’s heading to Addingham

Trials

BIG news from the Yeadon Guiseley club is that they are once again running their McKenzie Trophy Super Trial, on Bank Holiday Monday, August 28 and World No.2 Adam Raga is coming!

Danny Cockshott, the driving force behind the event and arch section plotter, told TMX early this week that Raga, the TRS factory rider, has agreed to come over from Barcelona and contest the event as a Guest – and as such won't take any of the prize money from the British riders.

And just as important the trial will also see Britain's Jame Dabill ride one of the very few events he will contest in this country in 2017, due to his Gas Gas factory contract, and a Raga versus Dabill contest in Yorkshire is a cracking proposition.

The venue once again is Addingham Moorside where the massive rocks on the steep hillside overlooking the town of Silsden make for some impressive extreme sections.

Danny will be joined by Ben Hemingway in providing the exciting hazards. Inch Perfect, the multi faceted trials operation run by Matthew Alpe is the main sponsor.

Just 30 entries will be accepted for this prestigious event including all riders registered for the 2017 RT Keedwell British Championship and all these will be sent invitations.

They will be given priority of entry but others are invited to apply and which the club will consider. There is every reason to have a go with a cool £1,000 for first place. And with £850 for the runner-up and £500 for third it isn't just an all or nothing purse, it is well worth fighting for a podium.

Last year's McKenzie Trophy winner was Jack Price and the Gas Gas UK star has upped his game once again this year, is leading the British Championship, has scored a top-10 finish in the World Champs and will be looking to nail that Grand prize money.

Dabill, not riding the British Champs this year, will be equally keen to show that he is still Britain's top rider, plus there is the presence of Raga to spur all the Brits on.

There's a while to go yet but we can surely expect all the current young guns to be in there fighting like Gas Gas mounted brothers Dan and Jack Peace – Dan having just won Sunday's Scarborough Super Trial – Beta's Jack Sheppard and Iwan Roberts, Vertigo's Toby Martyn as well as the experienced Michael Brown (Gas Gas) and Ross Danby (TRS).

So get the date in your diary, Monday, August 28.
