Club Reports

Portsmouth MX were blessed with decent but chilly weather, for round three of their winter series.

The rapid Rookies were the first to take to the Swanmore circuit, with some quick performances from Todd Leadbitter and Preston Williams, who went head-to- head in each moto.

Leadbitter secured all three wins for the overall but runner-up Williams didn't give him any breathing space and Liam Brosnan was on the gas in each moto to grab third.

The Premier class was again a head-to-head battle between Brook Alder and Martin Bradbury, with Bradbury who securing the top step on the podium.

He blasted to the front in moto one and led race two before Alder's pressure forced him back to second.

A mistake by Alder in race three, though, handed him the final race win.

Steve Lyons was in good form, chasing hard to finish third overall.

With only a handful of MX1 riders on the line, they joined forces with MX2.

In the MX2 class, there was no stopping Charlie Putnam who put in three flawless rides and kept pace with  the leading duo in the combined class to finish first overall in his group.

Bradley Wheeler wasn't far behind, and despite problems at the start in race three he secured second spot.

Luke Kennett is loving life on his new 125, and the new club champion finished in third place.

You could hear the groans as former British Championship rider Neville Bradshaw appeared on the start-line, with riders knowing their hopes of winning had just been dashed.

But Nicky Watts definitely gave the South African a run for his money, with some of the best racing the club has seen.

After Bradshaw took the first two motos, Watts put in his finest performance in the third, taking the lead until he dropped the KTM on the last lap, leaving Bradshaw to take a clean sweep. Watts recovered to take second overall.

Daniel Maxey has not ridden for a number of years but was straight back in the groove for third overall.

In the 85s Billy Carter on the bigger-wheeled machine was unbeatable with three comfortable wins and the overall.

Jack Milsted kept ahead of the pack to grab three second spots.

Jake Wotherspoon put in the ride of his life and despite a nasty spill in race one, finished third overall.

James O'Mara shone in the Small-Wheel class to take the overall, while Connor Warren upped his game and  three second spots left him runner-up.

Leo Akers wasn't far behind in third overall.

The Junior 65 class was close at the front but Archie Kemp kept his nerve and after Harvey Antrobus cross-rutted just before the finish line in race three, Kemp took over to grab his second win of the day. Kemp secured the overall after tieing with Luke Richardson.

Richardson had an amazing day out on the track, just narrowly missing out on his second win in the final moto when he was pipped at the post by Kemp.

A brilliant race-two win ensured second spot was his on the day.

Antrobus put race one behind him to power his way through into second and led race three, until he almost lost the bike before the chequered flag.

With Kemp and Richardson so close behind him, his slip cost him first place, but he still finished a respectable third.

The Autos were out last but bravely fought on in the cold, dark conditions and Mitchell Woodward helped himself to a clean sweep.

Jacob Collins settled for second overall after chasing Woodward in each race, while Casey Kennett was delighted to secure his first top three.
