RHL Activities, in conjunction with the ACU, has taken the decision to condense the 2013 British Youth Nationals to four rounds.

With tough economic conditions continuing, the revised schedule allows competitors a greater chance of completing a full
season, and avoids two key clashes.

The riders' futures and the future of the British Youth Nationals Series were central throughout the consultation with the ACU.

With the first two rounds originally clashing with the UEM Championship, these two have been removed to leave a four-race, summer month calendar.

This summer focus should avoid the weather related cancellations that affected last year's schedule.

"It was a difficult decision to make, but it is the right decision,” explained RHL boss Gareth Hockey.

"We wanted to ensure that the British Youth Nationals remains a strong championship, and a viable one for competitors to take part in.

On top of that, we were mindful of the issues the weathercaused us last year, and we are
hoping that we can steer clear of waterlogged tracks.

"We also know from our regular discussions with riders and their families that people are feeling the financial pinch, with some struggling to meet the costs involvedin travelling to six rounds.

"Once the economy picks up again, which I'm sure we all hope will be sooner rather than later, we will look to increase the number of rounds once again.”

With the number of rounds cut, the number of races at each event has been increased to boost value for money for riders.

The series may be two rounds shorter, but an increase in the number of races each weekend means that riders will complete the same number of races as they did in 2012.

On top of this, the RHL Academy will continue to be a strong focus for the series, giving young riders the guidance and training they need to further their careers.

To complete the festival feel, there will be entertainment at every round.

"The RHL Academy continues to be an important part of this championship,” addsedHockey.

"With our riders looking to make a career in motocross, it's really important for them to get a solid grounding .

"And the training on offer, from the physical side to the mental attitude, is first rate.

"This has the potential to be a really strong season for the British Youth Nationals.”

Due to the revised calendar, the deadline for entries has been extended until the end of April.
