AN all new enduro series the GBXC National Off-Road Championship (NORC) is being launched in 2013, and it has been awarded British Championship status by the ACU.

Its purpose is to bring together four styles of off-road racing into a British Championship to decide the UK's top off-road racers.

The concept was a joint one by brothers Paul and Derrick Edmondson, two riders with an incredible background in off-road racing, and is aimed at delivering something new and different in the UK's off-road scene.

The first event will be on February 24 at Cowm Quarry, in Lancashire, and will play host to an Extreme race. Round two will run as a Super-sprint event, where riders will race given two special tests per day and the course will be reversed on the second day.

Round three will be run as a traditional GBXC-style event with a Saturday sprint and a Sunday X-Country race.

The final round of the series will take place in the Isle of Man in October, where a Motoduro format will conclude the action with riders competing in two one-hour races.

There will be classes for Pro, Expert, Clubman, Vets, Sportsman and Youth. Entries will be limited and there will not be a registration fee for the series.

The aim is to encourage riders of all abilities and levels to try something new and hopefully improve their all round off-road racing capability.

The new championship has the full backing of the ACU along with support from Rock Oil and Michelin.

Pro riders will race for part of an overall prize fund across the championship, whereas the remaining classes will receive product from Rock Oil and Michelin and also other sponsors that are expected to sign up to support the series.

More details will be released very soon on both – www.gbxc.co.uk – and – www.fasteddyracing.com

Paul Edmondson said: "A big thanks to the ACU for supporting and understanding the importance of moving forward with this series. I think it will be a great benefit to riders in giving them something new and exciting to get their teeth into to.

"As usual we plan to cater for all levels and abilities. I feel that we are one of the few organisations that can do this and make it work. I am looking forward to a great season.”
