'SICK as a parrot, it was a game of two halves,' just two football clichs that weren't used on Remembrance Sunday during the annual Solo riders versus Sidecar crews' charity football match at Burnham Football Ground, near Slough.

Although it definitely was a game of two halves, there wasn't anyone 'sick as a parrot' even though the sidecar crews may well have been after they went down 8-6 come the final whistle, blown by former Para (do not mess with him) Garry Patey.
Created in 1987 to raise funds for sidecar rider George Skeates who unfortunately broke his back in a racing incident and carried on Remembrance Sunday, this year organised by the Twickenham club's former ace sidecar man Colin Philpott and Chairman of the Sidecar MX Association of GB Les Batten.
After the football game an auction and raffle raised £1,948 for the two chosen charities – the Crossroads and Iain Rennie Hospice nurses.
The Crossroad nurses were chosen after they looked after motocross rider Russ Anneveld before he sadly passed away recently.
Russ's wife Kate dished out the prizes and the final football trophies later in the day with big kisses for one and all!
