After breaking a small piece of his tibia at St Jean DAngely in France, Anthony Reville will miss the next two back-to-back European E-MX2 races.

Following a difficult qualifying session at the French track, Reville managed a fifth place in the last chance qualifier, which left him just 35th on the gate for the E-MX2 races. The 17-year-old youngster was determined to make amends for his earlier performance in the day and made a good start to the 30-minute plus two-lap race held on Saturday.

Reville was already 18th after a couple of laps and clawed his way to 13th with tremendous speed to impressively catch the top ten group around the super-hard, stoney and rutty French track when he over-jumped one of the huge jumps, landing hard on the pegs with his feet. Reville thought he had twinged his leg and continued for half a lap, when he realised that it was something more serious and was forced to retire.

With attendance from the French and FIM doctors, Reville had his right leg X-rayed, which confirmed he has broken a small piece of bone off the bottom of his tibia behind his ankle. The Lincolnshire-man was sent home in a cast and has undergone further diagnosis from a local consultant, Dr Gray, who is well-known for treating motorsport stars.

Reville requires a small pin to hold the bone in place, but thankfully the injury should be a simple fix and as soon as the pain has gone the youngster will be able to ride. It is hoped that if all goes to plan in the next few days, Reville will be able to contest the Desertmartin round of the British Championship series to claim some points in his quest to finish with a top 10 overall championship position.

"Obviously this is a big disappointment for me. We had a four week break after a good outing at Milton Park and I've been working hard with my training and riding to be ready for these back-to-back races with four on the trot from France onwards,” said Reville.

"Qualifying didn't really go to plan and although my speed was there it wasn't coming together. Thankfully I got in on the last chance and got a good start to the race from the outside. I got all the way up to 13th and had my eye on getting a top ten when I landed hard over one of the jumps. I thought I'd tweaked my ankle a bit, but after half a lap it really started to hurt and I had to pull in. This is another set-back just when I wanted to go forwards, but I've been told with a simple pin in it the injury should heal pretty quick and I can get back on the bike. The aim is to be at Desertmartin for the British Championship and I'll be having some lazer treatment to try and speed things up. I've also continued in the gym doing what I can and now it's just a case of waiting to see when I can get the operation done,” concluded the youngster.
