New Zealander, Levi Sherwood is to miss most of the season including the X Games after suffering serious injuries in a fall during practice.

The extreme Freestyler star broke two bones in his left wrist, lacerated his liver, fractured two vertebrae, bruised a lung and "banged my kidney around a bit". Levi was practicing with Travis Pastrana for the Nitro Circus Live Show in Grand Arena MGM, Las Vegas when the accident happened.

"My bike skipped into neutral on the takeoff - I don't know how or why, I haven't really quite figured it" Sherwood went on to say from his hospital room in Vegas: "It's FMX: S*** happens. My back is what hurts the most and I know I'm lucky it wasn't worse."

His doctor said he'll be off his bike for two months but Sherwood is remaining positive even though his X Games hopes have been dashed.

"Obviously I'm disappointed," said Sherwood. "I knew before I even hit the ground that I'd be missing all these events coming up, and after talking with my doctors this morning I don't think I'll realistically be back on my bike for two or three months. It's just been one of those years this year and things haven't gone my way, but I'm trying not to get too broken up about it: I'm only 19 so I know there will be plenty more opportunities to come."

Levi recently posted a message on his Facebook page "Just took my first steps out of bed by myself... To get a brownie. Was so worth it"
