Au, Au, Au Aubin’s magic

Motocross

After five rounds of the Red Bull Pro Nationals it couldnt be any tighter at the top of the MX1 standings with Frenchman Nico Aubin and Scot Stephen Sword locked together on 167 points apiece. Tyco Suzuki TAS rider Sword had lead the championship chase from round one but following the weekends round at Canada Heights its Buildbase Hondas Aubin whos taken the overall at the last two rounds - who now holds the series leaders red plate by virtue of more race wins.

In the MX2 class a 2-4 card was good enough for the win for Neville Bradshaw who increased his
championship lead to 29 points from Frenchman Steven Lenoir. Nathan Watson, last year's Rookie champ, continued his progression in the adult ranks with third overall to move into third in the title chase.
As you should all know by now the MX1 and MX2 men race together at the Red Bull Pro Nationals with both classes scored separately and as the combined might of the pro field thundered into the opening left-hander after the long drag up the start straight it was the Tyco Suzukis of Swordy and team-mate Martin Barr at the front.

But the Scot got pushed wide and then stalled his 450, restarting at the back and leaving himself a whole heap of work to do at the start of the opening 25-minute plus two lap moto.

While Barr went on to win the race by six seconds from MVR-D Honda's Jason Dougan who had a great first race back after wrist surgery, Swordy could only recover to 18th at the flag as Aubin came home fourth behind Oakleaf Kawasaki's Alex Snow to close to within three points of the series lead.

First MX2 pilot across the line was Emberson Yamaha's Graeme Irwin in fifth followed by Bradshaw in seventh and Watson eighth.

Race two saw Aubin pull a monster holeshot and from then on the win was in the bag for the Frenchman.

After a race-long chase Swordy came home second over 23 seconds adrift with MVR-D Honda's Gert Krestinov fourth, just behind the first MX2 finisher Steven Lenoir who made up for a first race no-score.

Brian MacKenzie was the next MX2 man in sixth with Matt Moffat bring home his 250cc two-smoker in ninth, one place ahead of Bradshaw who did enough to take the overall by five points.
