Lyng report: Tommy Searle and Conrad Mewse on top!

British Motocross Championship Lyng Tommy Searle
Tommy Searle (BOS Kawasaki) and Conrad Mewse (Hitachi KTM fuelled by Milwaukee) ran out winners on Sunday as the infamous Cadders Hill circuit at Lyng hosted the second round of the Maxxis ACU British Motocross Championship supported by Pro Clean.
The rough, tough Norfolk sand circuit is just about as old-school as it gets and Searle avenged his defeat at the hands of main title rival Shaun Simpson (RFX KTM powered by PAR Homes) at last months opening round to take the MX1 overall on a tie-break with his 2-1 card giving him the advantage over Simpsons 1-2 scores.
It was a good day for me, said Searle. I enjoyed Lyng I always do and I felt good all day. I was fastest in qualifying and although I didnt get the best of starts in race one I came through to fight for the win but couldnt make the pass happen which Im disappointed about because I was the fastest but I managed to win the second race.
MX1 rookie Mel Pocock (ASA United KTM) holeshot the opening 25-minute plus two lap moto but Simpson wasted little time in making a pass stick that he held to the line to win by just over a second from Searle with Pocock in third from Lewis Tombs (Buildbase Honda) and Harri Kullas (Cab Screens Deos Group Racing Honda).
Simpson holeshot the second race but suffered a gearbox problem and Searle took the lead to ensure the overall win in the closing laps. Tombs was looking good for a podium finish until a late pass by Kullas gave the Estonian third overall on a tie-break.
After losing the overall at the opening round at FatCat to his team-mate Bas Vaessen on a tie-break, defending MX2 champion Mewse was in no mood to hang around and he won the opening race by over 18 seconds from Josh Gilbert (Buildbase Honda) and race two by more than seven seconds from Dylan Walsh (REVO Husqvarna UK) to get his hands on the red series leaders plate.
It was a great day, said Mewse. Weve been struggling a lot recently and we finally managed to turn things around this week.
"We had a bit of a positive mental turn and I feel great. I had a lot of confidence going into Lyng and I felt fantastic. I felt free and I felt like I was enjoying my riding. It was back to normal.
A last corner pass on Alvin Ostlund (REVO Husqvarna UK) for fourth in race two earned Gilbert second overall ahead of Vaessen who ran 4-3 with Walsh taking fourth on the day from his Swedish team-mate on a tie-break.
In the MX2 Youth class Joel Rizzi (RFX KTM powered by PAR Homes) extended his win-streak to four races in a row after battling with Ike Carter (DEP Husqvarna) and Kathryn Booths 2-1 card gave her the overall in the Ladies class on a tie-break from Amie Goodlad who went 1-2.
