IN keeping with his day-job, winner Davy McKee performed a demolition derby during Saturday's opening round of the new Ulster Supermoto championship at Nutt's Corner, Co Antrim.

A car dismantler, McKee simply took the oppositionapart but it was good to see Alan Morgan rekindle some of the formwhich he had when this type of racing was launched 15 years ago.

Aboard his TAS Suzuki, there was no-one to touch McKee who was as hot as the weather.

''The first time I was here was St Patrick'sweekend when we had to contend with a snow blizzard,'' reflected McKee.''Today, the conditions were perfect and that allowed me to get in somefast laps. I suppose in many ways it was good practice' for the nextround of the Irish series, that's in Cork on Sunday.''

McKee went on: ''It was also encouraging to see abig entry - a record 104 - which proves that the sport is on its wayup, and the format of graded races was well received.''

Quickest in qualifying, McKee commenced his blitzwith an 11-second victory margin over Donegal's Ivan Kerr who had beenfifth during the early stages of the first race.
