Edmondson takes to the hills

Motocross

PAUL Fast Eddy' Edmondson blitzed his way to the overall win at round one of the Motul GBHS Championship at a rain soaked Pen y Bont Fawr venue in Powys.

The 250 Maximum Solutions Suzuki, under the perfect throttle control of a four-times world enduro champion, was more than a match for both the opposition and the conditions. Edmondson is a master of wet, slippery going and the tougher the event the better the man goes. A purse of 500 was up for grabs for the Open class and Edmondson wanted it! And he got it.

The circuit was an absolute gem and had the rain not again come in with devastating effect, it could be possibly be one of the best off-road motorcycle courses in the country.

The nine miles per lap of open mountain top moorland with plush grass slopes, tricky off-camber woodland, a 70-acre forest section and a great paddock cum start/ finish area.

WOR Events supremo, Steve Ireland had microphone in hand and was doing a great job in the rain keeping the pit crews informed of proceedings, rider positions and incidents.

The leader on lap one was Kawasaki-mounted Ryan Voase. Voase, the Motul GBHS champion of 2005, had about a four-second lead over Edmondson and the impressive young Tom Sagar.
