NICK Life can be classed as one of Devon's more accomplished all rounders of the current era. In the last couple of months he has won the Weymouth Beach Race, finished seventh in the Weston-super-Mare sand Enduro, and last weekend he won a long distance trial in his native county.

On Sunday, he crossed the River Tamar for the Camel Vale club's super tough Enduro at Five Lanes in Cornwall in which he had a 17-minute win over closest rival Peter Bulley in the Elite class. They both managed to complete nine laps of a sodden and boggy six-mile circuit at the Halvanna Plantation, next in line were Carl McIlroy, Steve Jewell and Andy Elliott.

Max Hembrook finished a lap up on Shaun Martin, Shaun Dayman, Mark Tucker and Gavin Hunt in the Expert class.

Mike White had two minutes to spare over Kevin Lamacraft in the over 40 class, and Martin Williams finished 14 minutes in front of Charles Richards in the Clubman class in an event in which marshals were kept busy man handling men and machines from the more difficult parts of the circuit.

Following the birth of their second child, Jason Fraser was a notable non-starter in the 70-strong line-up, of which 52 made the finish.
