With a double victory on Sunday afternoon, Paul Coates clinched the SX2 title in the Dortmund Westfalenhalle but the Brit came up two points short in the ADAC series as Spanish kid Ilker Larranga Olano kept his cool to take the title with a third to Coates win on Saturday.

The SX1 win went to final round guest Valentin Teillet as fellow Frenchman Greg Aranda – who had dominated the previous German events this winter – had a nervous ride to the title after crashing out of the Friday programme in the semi.

Battered and bruised, he returned to do no more than necessary on Saturday to clinch the deal. Steven Clarke went 8-7 on the first two nights before falling at the final LCQ hurdle on Sunday afternoon.
