Weston Beach Race 11&12th October 2008. Shaun Simpson KTM UK has today confirmed his participation in the World famous Weston Beach Race, that will take place this coming weekend. A late change in circumstances, has now allowed the newly crowned MX2 British Motocross Champion to take part in this unique race.

Twenty year old Simpson from Fife in Scotland will use the same KTM 250SX-F two-fifty four stroke machine that has powered him to his first national title and to an incredible fourth place in this years MX2 World rankings for Sunday's race.

This will be Shauns debut at Weston, with the young Scot lining up against off road stars such as Stefan Everts, Tyla Rattray, Josh Coppins, David Knight and Paul Edmondson to mention just a few of the names who are part of the one thousand strong solo entry.

The three hour race, that will start at 12.30pm this Sunday, takes place on the extensive beach at the seaside resort of Weston-Super-Mare on the South West coast of England. The normally flat, long sandy stretch is transformed into a massive motocross course for this annual event that is watched by a live audience of tens of thousands of people.

Simpson spoke about his expectations."I have never been to watch the event, and have only seen it on TV and in the magazines. It's something I have always wanted to do, but for one reason or another it has not fitted into my schedule previously. I am really looking forward to it, it looks fun, but I am sure it is going to be one hell of a tough race."

"Hopefully I can get a reasonable result, but the most important thing is for me to enjoy it. With that many riders anything can happen, so it is a case of getting out there and just doing your best."
