Motocross

THE latest event on the Wilden MXC winter calendar was a Championship meeting at Stipers Hill, Polesworth, and spectators witnessed a raft of cracking individual performances from Dane Reeves, David Keet, Jordan Pyne and Josh Spinks as they all went through the card unbeaten on the day. The supporting cast didn't let anyone down either as they produced some of the best racing of the winter so far on a course in really good nick. At the sharp end in the Open class, Nathan Rooks versus Josh Spinks and 250F versus 250cc two-stroke topped the bill as the pair of KTM riders proved to be a class apart. At close of play, however, it was a resounding win for Josh on the two stroke as he won all three races with the extra horse power just adding to his advantage. In race three, Josh also produced the best performance of the day, eventually reeling in the field, including the run away leader Nathan Rooks, to claim a magnificent race win after going down in turn one.
The 125cc class produced yet another series of close fought competitive encounters with Charles Statt, Luke Houghton, Levi Whiteoak and Chris Povey hanging on to each other's coat tails at times. Going into the final race it was all to play for as Statt fought to get the better of Houghton, claiming the final race win that gave him the overall victory. However both guys finished on equal points.
Harry Bradley, with a string of good performances recently, has been threatening to pull off a result and fully deserved his win this time out in the Big-wheels with a 1-6-1 scorecard. Ben Howell was right on the pace all afternoon and unlucky second time out suffering a fall as Chase Neale took the chequered flag win in another close fought section.
Jordan Pyne, in the Small-wheels, reeled off three classy race wins leaving Danny Lanfear, Dan Whiten and Robert Yates to fight it out in his wake, and well done Ellie Caines coming home in fifth place overall.
David Keet, in Junior 65cc, is another young guy who just seems to be getting quicker and quicker, to such an extent this week he was simply untouchable with three scorching race wins to his credit. Alex Walton did his best to hang on but had to settle for second place overall with Ethan Gatenby consistent in third place. James Angel and Brooklyn Evans with two spirited displays proved to be the best of the Novices in the combined section.
Arguably just as impressive was Dane Reeves in the Auto races as he flew around the short version of the Maxxis standard course displaying style and speed to grab the Auto Big-wheel overall victory as Archie Hicks won out in the Small-wheel section over James Hyett.
In a real entertaining series of Quad races, Paul Holmes got the horses down to best effect, securing two race wins and the overall with Laurence Roberts taking the other race win.
