AMA Supercross Max Anstie

Max Anstie will switch to AMA Supercross for the 2020 season, returning to his racing roots.

The 26-year-old British rider will sign for HEP Suzuki and race the 250SX class, according to a report from MotoXaddicts.

The report says it's unconfirmed at this stage but has been backed up by two independent sources...

I was told a rumor yesterday from one of our MXGP sources that Englishman Max Anstie would be packing his bags and heading back to the US on a Suzuki for 2020. After hearing that and passing it on, MotoXAddicts contributor Chris Cooksey confirmed from one of his sources that the 26-year-old is coming to US and he was told that the former MXGP moto winner would be joining the HEP Suzuki team.

The article was updated later to say that Anstie would race a HEP Suzuki 250f for Supercross and then switch to the 450 class for US Outdoors but it wasn't clear if that would be with HEP (they have previously been SX only).

Anstie first competed in America in 2005 when he qualified for Loretta's as an amateur racer and he turned his first pro laps in the US in 2009. After some solid results, he returned back to Europe for the 2011 season to contest the Motocross World Championship in the MX2 class.

On one hand, it will be great to see another Brit in AMA Supercross, but on the other, some fans will feel disappointed to see Britain's top moto racer leave MXGP.
