Report: Yeadon-Guiseley & DMC

Club Reports

Sidelined by an injury and subsequent operation, Silsden trials rider and footballer Danielle Whitham bounced back on to the trials scene at Dob Park on Monday where she rode her Jotagas machine to a clear cut victory over Kevin Morley and Chris Laws ibn the Yeadon Guiseley clubs annual Reunion Trial.

To be fair to Kevin, he was competing on an ex-Robin Luscombe Yamaha that had many season of hauling a sidecar and passenger round championship trials under its venerable belt.

A total of 22 competitors rode a two-lap 14-section course planned by Sam Yeadon and Joe Jennings.

A further eight Over 50 competitors rode the same sections but with easier variations. The stars in that class were Mick Driffield, who won, Graham Campbell and veteran Hugh Lindsay.

The trial started and finished in fine bright and warm weather taking in nine sections in the depths of Dob Park and a further five subs across the road in Browns Wood.

Two laps sufficed for event secretary Sue Smith to produce a set of results in quick time in the absence of caterer Nick Midgley who was also competing (???) on T'lad's famed Beta that won a finishers certificate in the SSDT.

The survivors headed for the Yew Tree hostelry in Otley to partake of ‘lemonade' and food afterwards.

Four competitors retired with aches and pains, or in one case, a sick but pristine Yamaha. Everyone a winner.
