Club Reports

The Scottish Motocross Federation, SMXF staged round three of the Nationals at Grampian MXC at Woodside, Calcots Road, Elgin.

The event attracted 173 participants from all over Scotland and Brad Todd, who finished second overall in the National class made it up from Carlisle.

On Saturday the event accommodated the Auto, Junior 65cc, SW85, BW85, Rookies and MX2/ Open Support each with three races.

Saturday ran very smoothly on a warm, bright and cloudy day with the track remaining damp. The Autos had a very clear winner in local lad Lee Cameron headed all three races.

The 65's event was won overall by Josh Gray who won the first two races and second in last. However, Logan Hendry who came second in first two races and Jay Clark who came third closely pursued him. But Jay pipped the post on last race and came in first to gain overall second place.

The 85's was fought out between Alexander Brown, Ben Edwards and Lee Perfect for top place, however, Alexander Brown came in first with two wins and third.

Dylan Carnegie from Montrose, had three first places with Kieran Hunter and Morgan Robertson taking second and third.
The MX2 race on Saturday was very high speed with Brad Todd, the Carlisle Lad taking first place three times.

Unfortunatley there was an accident on the Sunday, and the club wishes all parties involved a speedy recovery.

Proceedings eventually started over again with the Veterans with overall placing's of Peter Taylor, Darren Scott and Ross Donald taking the top three.

The Clubman Class was won overall by Tony Cadman ahead of Lee Disberry and Krisy Coull in all three races.

The National Race attracted the most attention with the first race being kicked off with Tony Craig getting a great start and taking the lead, ahead of Bryan MacKenzie.

This looked like it was going to be a classic contest, but early on the race was halted with a red flag and a dispute that resulted Tony Craig being Banned and Disqualified from event.

Following a re-fuel whilst the Veterans raced again, the Nationals got underway again with Bryan MacKenzie taking first place in all three of the races. His main competition was Brad Todd who took second overall and and John Adamson third.

John Adamson was also a very happy guy by obtaining the third overall and achieving two holeshots.
It was a very enjoyable weekend and chatting with the participants was great. It's a pity that the Sunday was blemished with so many accidents. Speedy recovery to all.
