Following lengthy negotiation between the Auto Cycle Union Ltd (ACU) and the land-owners of the historic Foxhill Moto Park circuit, near Swindon, a five-year lease has been agreed.

It was seen as vital that the ACU was able to come to an agreement to safeguard one of the most iconic circuits in British and International motocross history.

The Swindon circuit has been carved into the white chalk valley since the mid 1980s and hosted a number of 125cc and 250cc World Championship events during the 1990s as well as the prestigious Motocross des Nations in 1998.

This new lease will see the circuit's future secured for club and national events.

Foxhill and its large paddocks and car parking field makes it an ideal location for both smaller and large scale events.

One of the first things that the ACU will be looking to do with the circuit is change and alter the layout so that it is more suited to all levels of competitive racing.

ACU chairman, Brian Higgins, commented: "Obviously, we are delighted to be in a position to ensure Motocross at all levels continues at this high profile circuit.

"While it is likely that the Maxxis British Championship series will visit the venue consistently for the next five years, the ACU will also work with our local clubs to allow grass-roots events to enjoy the circuit as well.

"Over the summer months, some of the jumps will be tamed down a little to make the circuit more clubman friendly, but the general layout will remain the same.

"I am really excited about the whole project.”

The venue is available to all clubs, but the 2013 season is nearly fully booked.
