JAMES Stewart continued on his march towards the 2007 AMA Supercross title with a dramatic last to first ride through the pack at round twelve of the series inside the RCA Dome, Indianapolis, on Saturday night, that saw him come back from one of the worst starts imaginable to catch and pass championship rival Chad Reed for the win by just over a second and a half.

Many were expecting a dull Stewart whitewash, especially with Ricky Carmichael now officially retired fromsupercross, but Stewart's early mishap ensured that the fans were up and out of their seats for the entire20-lap main, and instead it was the Lites class that proved to be theuneventful race on the night, with Makita Suzuki's Ryan Dungey leading from thedrop of the gate to the flag, holding Ben Townley just over a secondback all race, for his second AMA victory while previous round winner, Branden Jesseman, trailed home some way back in third.

It's not often that the world's best supercrossracer gives his championship rivals a gift, but when Stewart fluffedhis start like an AMCA Junior and exited the first turn in 19th place Reed, who had grabbed theholeshot on the San Manuel Yamaha from Tim Ferry and Grant Langston, took his chance and set off at a furious pace, opening up a small gap by the endof the opening lap that would contiue to grow over the first half ofthe race.
