Super Stuart - 2006 British Sidecar review

YET again, the British Sidecar-cross champion- ship season has been dominated from the front by Stuart Brown, taking his fifth Championship title, and he was delighted to be back together with regular passenger Luke Peters, who was still building up his fitness after suffering complications from a broken leg back in 2004.

The Championship title was gained by taking wins in eight of the 10 championship races across six British Championship rounds. Un-fortunately, in round one at Whiteway Barton, it was not possible to score any points in either race as the event was abandoned after just one lap due to bad weather conditions.

In the remaining 10 races the pair conceded just two wins but in both races still finished a close second. The biggest drama for this team was when they took the first left-hand bend at Brampton, in Cumbria on two wheels, remarkably bringing the chair down to earth safely and quickly, but I'm still not sure how!

Not content with taking the British championship by storm, Stuart and Luke also retained their ninth position in the World Championships, scoring points in all but two of the 16 races.

In addition, they contested the French championship and, although they are not yet eligible for points, they still finished in the top three overall at most rounds.

Taking second position in the British championship were Scott Wilkinson and Gary Burt. The last time they held this position was in 2003, but they had a very successful season of racing with just two DNFs.
